Motion & Broadcast Design · Est. 2022

Your brand should feel as bold as what you're building.

The studio

We're not an agency.

Intermitente is a small, focused motion design studio. We design and animate the moving side of a brand. A broadcast identity that has to run 24 hours a day, a social campaign that has to stop thumbs mid-scroll, a title sequence that has to feel like an event. Different jobs, same instinct: motion should feel considered, not bolted on at the end.

Founded in Brazil, now based in Lisbon, and it shows in the work: precise enough to hold up under scrutiny, loose enough to still feel like a person made it. Brazilians have a word for that mix of structure and improvisation: "ginga". We didn't set out to brand ourselves around it. It just kept showing up in the work anyway.

We only take on a handful of projects at a time. Not because it sounds exclusive on a homepage but because motion work punishes anyone who's distracted, and we'd rather do three things well than seven things fine.

What we do

Design that moves - in every sense of the word.

Three ways people usually hire us: to build an identity from zero, to turn an identity into a system a whole team can run without us, or to make one piece of motion that has to work hard entirely on its own.

01 / Identity~12 weeks

Visual Identity

Full visual identity and motion systems for TV channels, streaming platforms and media brands. We design the language your audience will watch for years.

  • Brand strategy & visual direction
  • Style frames & motion language
  • Core animated assets (idents, templates, key visuals)
  • Brand guidelines & automation
02 / Systems~8 weeks

Visual Systems

You already have an identity. What you need is for everyone on your team to use it correctly at 11pm on a deadline, without calling us. Color, type, motion principles, component libraries — the actual working tools, not the poster version of the brand.

  • Identity systems & design tokens
  • Motion design principles
  • Figma component libraries
  • Digital & print guidelines
03 / Motion~4–10 weeks

Motion & Explainer

From concept to final render. A campaign spot, a product explainer, a kit of social cuts — whatever the format, it's designed, not just animated, from the first frame to the last.

  • Concept & storyboarding
  • Styleframe development
  • 2D & 3D motion production
  • Social motion kits
How we work

A process built for real decisions.

Four phases. No theatre. We defend our thinking, explain tradeoffs clearly, and ship systems that outlast the rebrand cycle.

01 —

Discovery

We start by understanding where your brand stands and where it needs to go. A focused audit, a conversation about what you're building, and a clear brief before we touch a frame.

1–2 weeks
02 —

Direction

Not ten options. Two. Both informed, both distinct. One bolder, one more restrained. You choose the path. We defend our thinking and explain the tradeoffs clearly.

2–3 weeks
03 —

Build

Once the direction is locked, we build — systematically. Every element designed to work at scale, from the logo in a tweet to the opener on primetime.

Handover

We deliver more than files. You get a system your team can use, a Figma library they can navigate, and guidelines that answer the questions that come up six months later.

We take on a focused number of projects each year — enough to stay fully committed to each one. No intake forms. No automated responses. Just a real conversation about what you need.
