An experimental opening sequence for Globoplay’s thriller series, blending manual textures and scanner interventions to set a visceral, haunting tone.

The challenge
The core challenge was to design an opening sequence for REENCARNE, Globoplay´s series. that established the show’s haunting atmosphere while subtly teasing its plot points without giving them away. We needed to create a visual bridge between the viewer and the supernatural theme of the series. The project required a high level of experimentation—blurring the lines between physical, manual craftsmanship and digital manipulation to evoke a sense of unease and curiosity.
The Vision
Our vision was rooted in the concept of "physical interference." We approached the production as a multi-layered experiment: printing frames, applying manual textures, and performing physical interventions through scanners and hand-drawn elements. Each frame underwent a cycle of destruction and reconstruction—scanned, digitally processed, and then subjected to further manual "glitches." This frame-by-frame intervention resulted in a gritty, visceral aesthetic that perfectly sets the tone for a thriller. At Intermitente, we believe a little bit of horror once in a while is good for the soul—especially when it allows for such a raw, experimental creative process.
The Process
01. Strategic Ideation & The Dual Spectrum
Our journey began with a deep exploration of the series' psychological weight. We developed a broad creative spectrum, ranging from ultra-high-definition 4K cinematic realism to raw, gritty, and intentionally degraded textures. By presenting six distinct visual directions, we allowed the Globoplay team to choose the exact level of friction and atmosphere required to tell this specific story.
02. Analog Experimentation
Once the "gritty" path was chosen, we moved into a tactile production phase. This wasn't about digital filters; it was about physical intervention. We printed frames, applied manual textures, and utilized scanners as creative cameras—intentionally interrupting the scanning process to create organic glitches and "dirty" visual artifacts that a computer cannot replicate.
03. Digital Reconstruction
The final stage was the digital reassembly of the manual frames. We synchronized the hand-crafted "noise" with the narrative pacing of the sequence, ensuring that the final opening felt both like a modern broadcast piece and a haunting, rediscovered artifact.
